A Silver Lining in Every Cloud

As most everybody who has been following Jayme's season here online knows, Jayme suffered a broken back after an extremely hard landing up in Elko, Minnesota for an ISOC National event. After an extremely frustrating weekend at the ECS event in Turin, NY, Jayme was really looking forward to racing with the guys out west, and Elko was the first of two straight ISOC Nationals before returning east to finish out the last 2 ECS events of the season.

Jayme's injury occurred on the third lap of his qualifying session when he carried too much speed at the finishline tabletop and over jumped the landing, flatlanding his sled. The force of the landing compressed Jayme down hard into the seat where he suffered 4 to 5 fractures in his back. "I knew I injured myself pretty bad as soon as I landed, so I pulled off to the side of the track next to a flagger." Doug thought the sled broke and went up to Jayme on the track where Jayme calmly told him that he was injured bad and needed the EMTs. In a phone conversation with Doug, he stated that he couldn't believe how calm Jayme remained while waiting for the EMTs and while they were transporting him. He even instructed emergency staff how his helmet could be removed without cutting it up!

Once at the hospital, x-rays and scans were made to determine the extent of Jayme's injuries. It was then determined that we would go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where the nation's finest medical teams were on hand. Surgery was scheduled on Sunday morning and everything came out great. By Monday Jayme was fitted with a turtle shell back brace and was up and walking! By Tuesday he was taking the stairs! The doctors said that they saw no reason why Jayme wouldn't be able to get back on the sleds next season and get back into the chase. Great news to hear. A very scary injury, led to big disappointment having had such a great season end like it did, but the silver lining is that he will recover from his injuries and is able to set his sights on another run in 2012!

The team would like to thank Arctic Cat, Speedwerx, StudBoy, Pit-X and all our sponsors for the tremendous help they provided this season. A very special thanks go out to the great staff at Morris County Marine for allowing us the time to travel to all the events. You folks are the best! Jayme is heading up to Pico Mtn. this weekend for the last ECS event of the season and hopes to see all his friends and fellow racers. See you there!

Brutal Weekend Finally Over

turin_Sun16-17Turin, NY - It simply was a weekend from Hell for Jayme this weekend at the Snow Ridge Ski Resort starting off with the weather. It rained all day Saturday and into Sunday morning. Then it changed to a heavy snow on Sunday, again making visibility on track difficult at best. Thankfully Snow Ridge had a ton of snow and Pit-X Bob built a great track considering the conditions he had to work with. Secondly, Jayme had flu-like symptoms all weekend, but still managed to pump up and take the green.

Heading into Saturday's racing, Connor Roscoe had 26 points to make up in Saturday's Jr. 16-17 Stock 600 class and he grabbed a healthy chunk of it back. Some great racing on Connor's part and bad luck on Jayme's side closed that point lead, but we'll wait til the official points come out to see how we fared. In their second round qualifying, Jayme jumped out front on the uphill at the start, but as they made the turn for the downhill section, he got hit by Connor as the whole field was still pretty tightly packed, and Jayme got punted pretty hard. Emotions get heated easily, but when things cooled down afterwards we realize that it was just two racers racing hard and Jayme got the short end this time.

Redemption looked like it was on it's way in the final as Jayme and Connor once again jumped out front and looked like they were on the way for another exciting race. That is until an over aggressive rider followed Jayme over the back stretch double and landed on the back of Jayme's sled ending his evening.

The weekend ended on a good note finally, as Jayme scored the Sunday Junior 16-17 Stock 600 win and might have gained a point or two over Connor who was only 9 points back coming into the weekend. Peter Yerden pressured Jayme the whole race and really put the pressure on. It was an exciting race to watch as any small bobble could have cost Jayme the win, but it all worked out in the end. We'll have more details on the results page in the next day or two.

A Clean Sweep in Salem

salm_frtpgSalem, NH - What an awesome weekend we had at Rockingham Park last weekend as Jayme lead nearly every lap in Junior 16-17 Stock 600 action. Jayme's solid performance in both Saturday and Sunday's Jr. 16-17 events has put him in a solid 26 point lead in the Saturday class and a tighter 9 point lead in Sunday's points chase. In both classes Connor Roscoe is right on Jayme's heels with three ECS point races remaining on the season.

Connor has been running great all season and is capable of winning any race he enters. We won't be celebrating anything with the likes of Connor, James Obine, Peter Yerden and Nate Newland taking the starts. This weekend's race at Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, NY will be the second of six-straight race weekend's for the MCM Racing team. At the completion of the Snow Ridge race, we will be heading out West to run the ISOC Airforce Nationals in Elko, MN on March 12, then on to the Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, WI.

After that grueling western run, we immediately return to ECS action in western New York at Findley Lake, NY on the 26th - 27th and then wrap up the 2010-2011 snocross season at Pico Mtn Ski Resort in Killington, VT on April 2-3. Man! That's exhausting just reading that! We couldn't even attempt this without enormous support of our family and all the great staff we have at Morris County Marine. For complete Salem, NH results click here.

salem_dudesWe'd also like to recognize the tireless efforts that Pit-X Bob and Race Director Fred Mang put in last week to make the Salem, NH event the success it was. As so eloquently illustrated in the photo to the right, Jayme and Jake Scott give their props to Bob and Fred for busting their butts to put on such a great event.

Jake, who has been running the ISOC Amsoil Championship Series this season made his first ECS appearance an impressive one by winning both Semi-pro Super Stock finals and scoring the Top Finishing Semi-Pro rider in the special ECS Challenge race on Sunday. It was great seeing Jake again and watching how fast he is riding now. Jayme will be hangin' with Jake I'm sure out in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Doug on the other hand chose to thank Bob and Fred in his own way by cooking up some steak and cheese sandwiches as racing came to a close on Sunday.

Two Podium Finishes at Farmington

teamACFor all our fans who couldn't make it to the ISOC Eastern Nationals this weekend, well, the headline says it all. Jayme and the team are celebrating at the hotel right now with celebratory pizzas and will drive back home on Sunday. Jayme's first final of the came in the Jr. 14-15 Stock 600 final which saw Jayme rocket out to the holeshot at the start, but fell to fourth before they crossed the finishline for the first lap. More details will follow, but in short, Jayme ran a strong race and scored the third place finish good for a spot on the podium.

New helmet from HotHedzDesignsJayme nailed the top spot in his Jr. 16-17 final under some extreme weather conditions.
